Recruit through us

ASSET is the recruitment service offered by the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

We offer employers well prepared, skilled and committed workers keen to contribute their skills,
resilience and ingenuity to the Australian community.

ASSET candidates all have full work rights and a Tax File Number. They have undertaken training in Australian workplace culture and employer expectations, and have been screened for their job readiness and availability.

ASSET is about training people seeking asylum in skills that are needed in Australia and
connecting the right person with the right skills to the right job.

In Victoria, ASSET’s services for employers include recruitment, on-boarding support, as well as post-placement support and training for both our candidates and employers.

Our services are offered free of charge.

ASSET is about connecting the right person with the right skills to the right job. We build long-lasting relationships with our candidates and your business. We take the time to get to know our candidates, their strengths and skills, before presenting them for a position in your workplace.

This is why every one of our candidates receives one-to-one support from our trained employment advisers well before, and during, their work placement with you.

As an employer, you will also benefit from a productive relationship with ASSET. One of our advisers will be there every step of the way to offer assistance should you need it. In this way, we give the employment relationship the best chance of success.

People seeking asylum come from a wide range of employment backgrounds, from low- and semi-skilled workers, to highly trained and experienced professionals. Most speak good to excellent English.

We have candidates looking for work in a wide range of occupations, including:

  • Factory, Warehouse and Process work
  • Labouring and Construction
  • Childcare, Aged Care and Disability Support
  • Hospitality
  • Pathology collection
  • Retail and Customer Service
  • Beauty and Hairdressing
  • Professions such as office work, IT, account-keeping, customer service, banking and finance, project management, policy and community development

Employing our candidates saves you time and resources

Advertising positions, vetting resumes and interviewing are often arduous tasks that can take you away from your core business. ASSET builds face-to-face relationships with our candidates. We will not present an applicant unless we believe we have the right person for you.

Our candidates are well prepared

We train our candidates in the everyday standards and requirements of the Australian workplace so that their transition into your workplace is as smooth as possible.

By employing ASSET clients you will get people who are:

  • Qualified
  • Experienced
  • Committed and hard working
  • All our candidates have a Tax File Number and full work rights.

We are committed to building quality relationships

Matching the right candidate with your business is only half the job. We also make sure things run smoothly once our candidates have commenced work. Employers are encouraged to contact us for assistance if any issues arise, and ASSET will be able to assist with seamless transitions, ensuring our candidates succeed on the job.

We offer training and support

Our training for employers includes cross-cultural practices and strategies for workplace success, and can be tailored to your specific needs. For more information about our training, contact us.
